In Valsesia, at the feet of Monte Rosa south wall, stone, water and wood talk to us of the Walser time, the ethnic group of German origin who colonised the High Valleys of Valsesia in the XIII century.
Through this Itinerary Guide the visitor will become acquainted with how the Walser organised their life during the seasons (from life in the country to the life in the meadows), visiting their work environs (saw mills, mills, furnaces, forges, mines, ovens ....), and walk on the paths to discover the environmental, architectural, historic and cultural emergences.
In this way we will recompose the pieces of a story which speaks of migrations, agricultural settlements, transhumance, ancient trades, traditions, taleted artists and emigrants, but also spiked glaciers, avalances, climatic and environmental changes.
Besides the Walser heritage the Guide offers interesting suggestions to discover the historic memory and expressions of the peasant material culture left by the inhabitants of the Low Sesia Valley and the way with which human activities have characterised the formation and development of the landascape.
